What is SEMPLICE?

SEMPLICE is our custom intelligence framework that we use to analyze and organize our geopolitical data. The name is an acronym of the eight key geopolitical event categories used for analysis: Social, Economic, Military, Political, Legal, Information and Technology, Cyber, and Environmental. This comprehensive structure, adapted from traditional military and governmental intelligence assessment frameworks, provides users multiple benefits, including:

  • Ensuring we deliver complete coverage of the geopolitical threat landscape in our reporting.
  • Providing a lens through which you can filter our reporting, creating a custom intelligence picture that perfectly aligns with your organization's unique threat environment or specific areas of interest.
  • Structuring the Intelligence Estimate reports to provide a risk assessment across each category, contributing to a baseline understanding of a country’s overall threat rating.

How is SEMPLICE Connected to General Intelligence Requirements?

Each SEMPLICE category is a section in our General Intelligence Requirement (GIR) listing, expanding Intel 471’s existing Cyber Underground General Intelligence Requirements Handbook (CU-GIRH) to include this new Geopolitical Intelligence guidance. This additional handbook, the Geopolitical Intelligence General Intelligence Requirements Handbook (GP-GIRH) is available for you to download to help you organize, prioritize, produce and measure geopolitical intelligence by your own intelligence teams.

A geopolitical risk assessment is a must-have, not a nice-to-have. Every industry has potential impacts from political and geopolitical fluctuations, and corporations must take them seriously whether they come from locations where you have assets, where your third parties have assets, what your brand represents, or where and what you sell... It's past time to be a student of foreign policy impacts - take action to mitigate risks today.
